He Kainga Mo Te Reo is one of the longest serving providers of Te Reo Maori programmes in Rotorua. The teaching delivery is based on the Ataarangi method which is predominantly oral in approach.

He Kainga Mo Te Reo currently offer two Training Opportunities Programmes funded by the Tertiary Education Commission.

1. Aratu Delivers the basics and intermediate stages of the language.

2. Aratiatia Develops fluency

Upon successful completion of the Aratu and Aratiatia programmes, learners are awarded with the National Certificate in Te Reo Maori to level 4.

Aratu (Beginners) - (to be confirmed)
Aratiatia (Advanced) - (to be confirmed)

Programme Duration

January to December (48 weeks)

Course Times
9am 3pm, Monday to Friday
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Aratu and Aratiatia programmes, all applicants must meet the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) criteria for Training Opportunities Programmes.

Applicants must:

1. Have low qualifications
(i.e. fewer than 3 School Certificate passes or, fewer than 80 credits on the National Qualification Framework) and;

2. Be registered with Work and Income
